More signs for moderates

The Obama administration now appears to back away from an October deadline for Iran and its nuclear program.(1) Obama also asks openly for Netanyahu not to surprise him with an attack on Iran. According to “Haaretz,” I$rael has agreed.(2)

Meanwhile, Jordanian King Abdullah says the pressure is on for this month:

“If there is procrastination by Israel on the two-state solution or there is no clear American vision for how this is going to play out in 2009, then all the tremendous credibility that Obama has worldwide and in this region will evaporate overnight if nothing comes out in May.”(3)

The stage is thus set for Netanyahu to accept the Arab peace initiative or Abbas’s plan May 18. So far, however, we see no signs of that, just preparations in case Netanyahu decides to agree.

Netanyahu himself just met with King Abdullah.
